- Protect the airway
 - Provide a patent airway
 - Provide positive pressure ventilation (abdominal/thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, long surgeries)
 
- Nasotracheal intubation contraindications:
 
- Facial fractures
 - Coagulopathy
 - Intranasal abnormalities
 - Sinnusitis
 - Basal skull fractures
