Pre-procedure

  • Radial Artery Barbeau Test!!!
    • Put a pulse ox on the thumb, then compress the radial artery.
    • If the pulse ox waveform disappears and doesn’t return within two minutes, don’t do radial artery canalization.

Premedication

  • Cocktail for radial artery:
    • 2.5 mg verapamil, 100 ug nitro, 5000 u heparin. Mix in a 20 cc syringe.

Post-procedure

  • Radial access closure with manual compression or TR Band
