  • Heat before. Ice after.
  • Varus = bow-legged; VaLgus = push on knee from Lareral side.
  • Lateral motion at 30 degrees flexion isolates the MCL ligament by making the PCL go slack.
  • Sound side sags, with a Trendelenberg gait.
  • Adductor canal nerve block (saphenous nerve) does not cover the posterior portion of the knee. So an injection in the posteromedial knee during arthroscopy can cover the tibial nerve and provide pain control for the posterior knee.
  • Alcohol and steroids are the two most common causes of AVN.
  • ACL repair has good 2 year outcomes but bad 5 year outcomes. Reconstruction is good at both 2 and 5 years. The Baer procedure is new and we don’t have 5 year data on it yet.
  • External rotation of the foot during anterior drawer test isolates the posteromedial corner of the ACL.
  • Log roll and axial loading test for pelvis stress fractures and interarticular fractures of the hip joint.
